Visit to Gloucestershire Constabulary HQ

Following an invitation from the Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary, Rod Hansen, himself a member, 55 members of the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire were given a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes at Constabulary.

Greeted on arrival by a Guard of Honour of Volunteer Police Cadets and entertained by Voices in Force, the Constabulary’s ladies’ choir, members were then formally welcomed by Rod Hansen, who gave an insight into the complexities of policing in the 21st Century, particularly the challenging growth of crime into new areas. Split into three groups members then had the opportunity to visit the Force Control Room and the state of the art Custody Suite, Compass House, and to be briefed by the crew of an Armed Response Vehicle. All officers and civilian members of staff were enthusiastic and proud about the job they did and were honest about the challenges they faced.

Members left the Headquarters confident that the Constabulary was a well-led and focused organisation, working hard to keep the County’s communities safe. Our thanks to Rod Hansen for hosting the visit and to Gary Thompson, his Chief of Staff, for organizing such a fascinating programme.
