Newent Association for the Disabled

On 4 October Andrew Tabor, Warden, presented a cheque for £750 from the Honourable Company’s Charitable Trust to Newent Association for the Disabled (NAD), the grant having been agreed at the recent Trust meeting.

NAD (also known as Sheppard House) started in 1981 with a mission to ensure that quality of life is maintained – or increased – for disabled and elderly people of all ages who live in rural Gloucestershire, specifically the very rural Forest of Dean, and surrounding areas.  They have two main services, a Disability Day Centre and a Community Transport Scheme.  They requested the sum to help them provide equipment and materials for activities for disabled day centre attendees for the next 12 months.  This will include seasonal materials, arts and crafts, baking ingredients, gardening items and workshop materials for their ‘men’s shed’.
