Royal Forest of Dean Orchestra

Every seat was taken at Parkend Church for the 30th Anniversary Concert of the Royal Forest of Dean Orchestra.    The concert was supported by a grant of £1,000 from the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire Charitable Trust and the cheque was presented to the Orchestra’s Chair, Alison Phelps, by the Trust Secretary during the Interval.

The concert featured the World Premiere performance of ‘The Bears’, a composition by Ryan Probert, a Forest of Dean composer, relating to Forest folklore from the 1890s.  Two soloists gave outstanding performances – Nadia Postolatii from Ukraine, currently studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and violinist Isaac Williams, 2023 Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year and a former pupil of Sir Thomas Rich’s School.  It was a hugely enjoyable evening.
