Gloucestershire Bundles

A grant of £500 was awarded to Gloucestershire Bundles by the HCG Charitable Trust at its September meeting.  This charity, a recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, provides emergency packs of clothing, equipment and toiletries, to families with children up to age 16 who find themselves in crisis situations.  It receives referrals from professionals who are in contact with families throughout the county. These professionals include social  workers, health visitors, school pastoral teams and midwives.  Families are referred for a wide variety of reasons, such as sudden drop in income, fleeing domestic abuse, teenage pregnancies, and refugees and asylum seekers.  Each bundle is individually packed according to the needs of the specific family, dependent on age of the children and items they already possess. Warm bedding is one essential that is frequently outside a family’s limited budget.
