Countryside & Environment Interest Group

Within the objectives of the Honourable Company – to promote Gloucestershire values and the interests of the county’s communities and businesses – the Countryside and Environment Group’s Terms of Reference are:

• Identify issues which are impeding the growth, health and economy of the rural areas and communities in the County. This includes education and training as it relates to employment, and individual and business development.
• To engage and work with interested organisations and individuals, recognising that the Group has only limited capacity by itself to deliver projects and schemes.
• Act as an independent group to encourage and support those individuals or organisations that are delivering meaningful change in the Countryside and/or the Environment in Gloucestershire.
• Identify members of the Company whose experience, knowledge and expertise may be able to contribute to solving identified problems or issues, and where appropriate, to utilise the membership to give support to individual rural businesses, organisations or communities.
• To organise from time to time meetings, discussions and debates of interest to the membership of the Company and wider audiences within the County.
• The remit is wide and it is important to focus, at any one time, on a limited number of objectives.
