Bristol Classical Players

The Trustees were pleased to award £1,000 to Bristol Classical Players to help with the costs of the Gustav Holst 150th Birthday Concert to be held in Cheltenham Town Hall on 22 September 2024.  In order not to compete with two performances of The Planets planned for local concerts in October, the main piece for this Birthday Concert will be Grieg’s Piano Concerto, chosen to reflect Holst’s great admiration for Grieg, from whose determination to use and preserve traditional folksongs he took inspiration. The Concert will include The Perfect Fool and A Fugal Overture, both by Holst, and A London Symphony by Holst’s great friend Ralph Vaughan Williams.  The cheque was presented by Trustee, Bill Armiger, to Tom Gauterin, conductor of Bristol Classical Players.
