Community Connexions

Michael Jones, Trustee, presented a cheque for £1,000 from The HCG Charitable Trust to Community Connexions, which provides essential transport to the most vulnerable people throughout Gloucestershire, utilising accessible minibuses and volunteers who use their own cars. They transport people to essential health appointments, day centres, and other vital community services, tackling loneliness, social, financial and rural isolation. Nearly fifty dedicated Volunteer Drivers are the backbone of this Community Transport Service, which enables the charity to operate sustainably and efficiently as they use their own vehicles to provide door-to-door transport to some of the county’s most vulnerable and isolated individuals. These Volunteer Drivers complete over 7,000 passenger journeys a year.  The Volunteer Drivers are DBS checked and trained regularly in safeguarding, mental health, first aid, and manual handling. The grant will fund recruitment and training for three Volunteer Drivers.
