On 6 January Mark Hurrell, Trustee, accompanied by Paul Massey, Chair of the CSG, presented a cheque for £500 to Gloucester Community Building Collective. This grant was awarded at the December meeting of the HCG Charitable Trust to GCBC for their Gloucester-wide Community Chest, which transforms residents’ ideas into action under a proven model of resident-led, grassroots funded change.
The £1,000 will be used to fund four micro-grants of £250 each for Gloucester residents. They will enable grassroots community initiatives addressing poverty, isolation and social connection in the most deprived community areas. GCBC identifies resident-led projects, provides application support and mentors delivery. Priority is given to residents who lack formal structure or fundraising experience, as they are the hardest to reach through traditional funding.
Mark and Paul were briefed on GCBC’s current projects. Paul says “I was delighted make another visit to GCBC and learn how their projects had moved on at pace since I last visited in October 2024. GCBC have a great track record of making small amounts of money go a long way to make a real difference in the communities they support, so it’s a privilege to be able to help them carry on their good work.”
