Peter Lachecki, Trustee, was pleased to meet Jane Ellis, Trusts and Grant Manager of Hope for Tomorrow, to present £300 granted by the HCGCT at its September meeting.
Hope for Tomorrow is a Gloucestershire based charity dedicated to enhancing cancer care for patients across England and bring treatment closer to the patient. They design, build and maintain mobile cancer care units which are operated by local NHS Trusts, or a major oncology unit, who are responsible for providing drugs, nursing staff, a driver, fuel and insurance. All other maintenance and fleet management costs are covered by Hope for Tomorrow and the grant was to help with those costs. Hope for Tomorrow has a fleet of 13 care units operating across ten regions. The units visit three to five easily accessible locations each week, e.g. supermarket car parks and smaller hospitals with free parking. Their first ever Mobile Cancer Care Unit was launched in Gloucestershire in 2007, supporting the NHS with 2431 cancer treatments on board last year.
