At their December meeting the Trustees of the Honourable Company’s Charitable Trust awarded a grant of £500 to The Friends of Scarr Bandstand. The Friends had asked for support towards the costs of “COOL CLASSICS” – a free afternoon event to be held in August 2025 which, for the first time, would provide live classical music at the Scarr Bandstand, Sling, Forest of Dean. The event is being organised in partnership with Wye Valley Music and the Bute Wind Quintet will be performing. The Quintet is a multi-award winning ensemble consisting of five final year and recent graduates of the Masters in Orchestral Performance course from the Royal Welsh College of
Music and Drama, several of whom are also individual prize winners. The Quintet maintains a high standard of performance across many musical styles; their mission is to promote contemporary and underperformed chamber music to a range of audiences.
The cheque was presented to Keith Walker, Treasurer of The Friends of Scarr Bandstand, by Margaret Fuller, on behalf of the Trustees.
