The Trust has awarded a second grant, this time for £1,000, to Scrubditch Care Farm in North Cerney. The Care Farm provides farm based training and activities for vulnerable people – primarily adults with learning disabilities and people living with dementia. In 2018 the HCG Trust awarded £650 to help the Care Farm begin a programme of weekly sessions for people living with dementia and their carers and these sessions have proved to be very successful. Local professionals regularly refer people to their sessions, during which they can be physically active, have contact with animals, spend time in the fresh air, take part in a singing group and most importantly have valuable social time with others in a similar situation in a safe and friendly environment. The funding allows the Care Form to continue to provide these sessions free of charge, which is very important as most attendees have very low income and can be socially isolated.
