Tewkesbury Abbey Foundation applied to the HCG Charitable Trust for a grant to help them deliver a high-quality music outreach programme. Their Choral Outreach Programme is designed to address the decline of music education in schools by providing high-quality singing and performance opportunities for up to 300 children in local primary schools. In weekly sessions throughout the academic year pupils enjoy inspiring, confidence-building rehearsals led by the Abbey’s choir leader and professional musicians, culminating in a performance with a live band and soloists in the magnificent setting of the Abbey. The purpose of the initiative is to strengthen school music provision, introduce children to the joy of singing, and position the Abbey at the heart of music education in Tewkesbury.
Peter Lachecki, Trustee, met Paul Charman, Foundation Chair, and the Vicar, Reverend Canon Nick Davies, at the Abbey to present the Trust’s cheque for £1,000.
